Vineyard
In a densely populated Region such as the northwest of Portugal, agriculture, carried out on tiny plots, naturally adapted over time to the needs of the population. The transoceanic voyages of the Portuguese brought maize to these lands in the 17th century, and its high productivity pushed the vines to the edges of the fields and the roadsides, where they did not take up arable land.
